Points Games at the EIS

On Tuesday 29th April, Y2 took part in an intra and inter school sporting competition at the EIS.  They took part in a relay races, badminton event, long jumps, football, target hitting and javelin to name a few!   It was so much fun and the children were awesome role models J Thanks to all the volunteers and a huge thank you to the Friends Association for our new Sporting Event T-shirts! 

 

 

Rugger Eds Rugby Taster Session

On Friday 28th March, F2, Y1 and Y2 took part in RuggerEds Rugby taster sessions.  It was great fun!  Plus RuggerEds has a superb ethos of promoting the core values of Good Manners, Respect, Teamwork & Fair Play and a great philosophy of "better people better players".  They children learnt about dodging, passing, taking penalties and removing a tag. Benjamin Povey Y2: "This is great fun!"  Holly Lee: "We played lots of fun games!"

 

 

Healthy Tuckshop

 On Friday 28th March, we held a Healthy Tuckshop!  There were lots of tasty treats such as pineapple, melon, cucumber, carrot and much more.  A big thanks to Mrs Futter and team for organising the event!  Please contact your School Council Representative if you would like any other tasty snacks!

 

 

 

Ket Stage 2 Swimming Gala:

On Thursday 6th March, 19 Key Stage 2 children presented our school in the Family of Schools Swimming Gala. The children showed superb passion and energy during the 27 tiring events! Our school community is thrilled to announce that Team STM, not only won 3 mixed year events and a diving event, but we won the entire event! Team STM are the 2014 Gala winners! We would like to say a huge well done to all of the children involved! Plus a big thank you to staff and parents involved helping the night run so smoothly. We would also like to say a big thank you to Mark Priest, the Chair of Governors of the Steel School Partnership for organising the event!

 

 

 

 

Year 3 Badminton:

On Thursday 13th March, Y3 took part in a Badminton workshop.  They learnt lots of new vocabulary and skills.  Here’s what they had to say:

“I enjoyed batting the balloons and I enjoyed the exercise.” Josh

“ I enjoyed using a racket to aim and shoot the shuttlecock into the tub.” Maddison

“Richard, our coach was epic.  He taught us lots of things!” Max.

 

Year 4 Swimming:

Year 4 have completed their swimming sessions at Chapeltown Baths last term. We are extremely proud of their achievements, attitude and behaviour during the sessions.

It was said by the instructors that their behaviour was exemplary and they were sad our sessions had finished. Well done to all, as we now have a full class of swimmers, which was not the case in September!

 

Year 6 Bike It Session:

Class 6 enjoyed an interactive puncture repair session on 11th February. They learnt about different parts of the bike and how to succeed in repairing a puncture.

 

 

 

Sheffield Wednesday Active Hearts Poster Competition:

 

Congratulations to Lily in Year 6 for winning the Sheffield Wednesday Active Hearts Poster competition. A member of the SWFC healthy hearts team came into school to take her photo! Lily was the overall winner from the 4 schools who entered. Well done!

 

 

 

 

 

Year 1 and Year 2 Fundamentals:

 

On Tuesday 3rd December 20 lucky Y1 and Y2 pupils took part in a Fundamentals Festival at Yewlands.  This involved balancing and co-ordination activities, throwing and catching, using a mini-trampoline and even a tri-golf kit! The children were all superb credits to the school as they showed great manners and sportsmanship. Well done everyone!
