STM PSHE RSE Online Safety
As a Catholic school, our aim is that every child achieves their full potential as an individual made in the image and likeness of God. Our approach to PSHE is grounded in the belief that all pupils can benefit from an education that keeps them safe, healthy and prepared for the realities of modern life. We aim to empower pupils to lead lives of contribution and achievement.
We intend a PSHE education that covers mental health and wellbeing, physical health (including healthy lifestyles and first aid) and learning about safe, healthy relationships, including understanding consent and negotiating life online. We achieve this by following the Jigsaw Programme of Study for PSHE, the Ten:Ten Programme ‘Life to the Full’ for RSHE which is rooted in the Catholic Faith and the Sheffield Scheme of Work for Online Safety.

SMSC
Every PSHE lesson from Early Years to upper primary offers opportunities for children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) development, and this is clearly mapped and balanced across each year group. Children in KS1 and KS2 attend regular assemblies to also support them in the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.
British Values: Our PSHE curriculum supports the British Values of Democracy, Rule of Law, Individual Liberty, Mutual Respect and Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs.

Y6 had a brilliant time on their trip to Crucial Crew. They learnt about the importance of fire safety, the justice system that we have in the UK, how to conduct ourselves appropriately on public transport and how to be careful when crossing busy roads. What a great trip to prepare us for secondary school! The staff at Crucial Crew commented on our students’ impeccable behaviour and manners - well done Y6!
